Simon is a Scottish based lighting designer with over 20 years of experience in the creative industries specialising in large scale site responsive lighting design, immersive light art and show pieces.

 

Simon has been involved in projects across the UK from rooftops to woodlands, harbours to museums on projects specialising in blurring the lines between different creative media. Previous projects include the Royal Botanical Gardens Kew and Edinburgh, Blenheim Palace, RHS Wisley and My Light Shines On for the Edinburgh International Festival. Simon was a founder and creative director of Lightworks for 10 years and now continues to create work as Simon Hayes Design. Simon enjoys collaborating to produce thought provoking, stimulating and evocative designs (as well as the occasional bit of joy and silliness...)

 

Simon is also and established theatre lighting designer who has worked with a variety of companies including The National Theatre of Scotland, Royal Lyceum Theatre Edinburgh, Tron Theatre, The Citizens Theatre, Beacon Arts, Snap Elastic, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Edinburgh International Festival, Dandelion Festival, Jordan and Skinner and Glass Performance.
